According to recent research, Facebook is by far the most visited website by employees. The implications for learning within the corporate firewall seem clear:
Increasingly employees are used to visiting and engaging with social media sites (whether in or outside of the workplace)
That means employees are conversant with the engagement techniques that come with such platforms
And if they are comfortable with engaging on such platforms then it is time for businesses to start using these engagement techniques to improve engagement around learning
Seems like employees are making the case for social learning loud and clear.
This video is useful in explaining Facebook's engagement techniques.
How about applying this research to the workplace? A lot to be gained from using internal networks not only to share/co-create but to spread positive behaviours . . . especially useful in the learning and development space . . .
